Uruguay set to legalise gay marriage on Wednesday The Uruguayan Parliament is set to approve marriage equality on Wednesday, with a final parliamentary vote on a bill that defines marriage as "a union between two people of different or the same sex", making it the second country in the region after Argentina to do so. In this largely secular country, the bill got large majorities in both houses of Parliament, despite the strong opposition of the Catholic Church, which organised a protest march against the bill on Monday. Images and soundbites.
